Packers close to agreement that would bring back QB Aaron Rodgers for 2021

The Green Bay Packers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers are close to a resolution for the 2021 season and possibly beyond.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Packers and Rodgers are closing in an agreement that would keep the MVP quarterback in Green Bay for the 2021 season but also clear the path for him to leave following this season.

While the terms are unknown, all the signs are pointing to a last dance type of season for Rodgers and the Packers.

Schefter reports that the agreement will include Rodgers showing up for training camp but does not include more money. Adding a void year to his current deal could be included.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported earlier Monday that Rodgers was planning on playing in Green Bay during the 2021 season.

Rodgers’ public conflict with the Packers dominated the offseason. The new agreement could be a compromise of sorts, with Rodgers playing one more season with the Packers before departing for a new team in 2022.
