Packers claim rookie OL DJ Scaife off waivers

The Green Bay Packers claimed rookie offensive tackle DJ Scaife off of waivers from the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday, according to Field Yates of ESPN.

Scaife, an undrafted free agent out of Miami, was released by the Dolphins on May 13 following the team’s rookie minicamp.

Scaife (6-2, 321) played in 61 games and made 52 starts for the Hurricanes. He started games at right guard and right tackle and was a two-time All-ACC selection.

Given his size and athleticism, Scaife is likely an offensive guard prospect for the Packers. As a guard, his Relative Athletic Score (RAS) is 7.49.

Green Bay had an open roster spot after releasing safety James Wiggins on Monday.

Scaife joins Kadeem Telfort and Chuck Filiaga as the three undrafted rookies along the Packers offensive line, where 13 players from last season return.
