Packers-Broncos ticket prices still strong despite both teams' losing records

GREEN BAY – The Green Bay Packers' next two opponents aren't very good, and two-thirds of the Denver Broncos' and Minnesota Vikings' wins are against the Chicago Bears.

In fact, include the Packers and three out of five of the three teams' victories are against the 1-5 Bears.

The 2-3 Packers end their bye week traveling to Denver to take on the 1-5 Broncos. The average lowest get-in price is $181, compared to $209 two weeks ago. The price is determined by averaging the lowest prices at 11 secondary marketplaces.

Denver has had three close games this season, including its win over Chicago, but it also suffered a record-setting 70-20 pasting at the hands of the Miami Dolphins.

Denver thought it had a real coup when it acquired quarterback Russell Wilson in 2022. It thought it had another when it lured coach Sean Payton out of his one-year retirement this year. That optimism hasn't materialized into wins yet, as the Broncos' record since acquiring Wilson is 6-17.

The Packers had two close losses themselves, to Atlanta by one point and to Las Vegas by four, so could easily be 4-1, but 2-3 isn't off preseason expectations with an untested starting quarterback and the youngest team in the NFL.

In games immediately after the bye week in previous seasons, Green Bay won 18 of its past 27, including nine of the last 14. On the other hand, the Packers are 0-4 in their past four road games after the bye, dating to 2015.

The teams have played only 15 times, including Super Bowl XXXII, which Green Bay lost 31-24. The series is tied at 7-7-1. More concerningly for Green Bay fans, the Packers are 1-6 in Denver.

Taylor Swift ticket watch

Singer Taylor Swift and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce are a thing, but whether they will be seven games from now remains to be seen. In the world of celebrity relationships, that's a long way off. The lowest average get-in price for the Sunday Night Football game on Dec. 3 at Lambeau Field is $184, compared to $161 in August, when it was the ninth most expensive game on the Packers schedule. The lowest prices range from $134 to $220.

Swift has been to several of the Chiefs games, causing flurries of excitement, especially among non-football fans. She has a break in touring in December and January. She will be in Tokyo for the Super Bowl, which is unfortunate timing, but could well turn up at Lambeau Field in December.

Standing room tickets caution urged

The Packers announced they will sell standing-room-only tickets for all home games this season. The face value of SRO tickets is $93. The SRO section is on the fourth level of the south end zone.

As the standing-room-only tickets are designated as not available for resale, any tickets found on the secondary market cannot be verified, so buyers should proceed at their own risk. If fans purchase standing-room-only tickets on the secondary market and encounter issues with the tickets, their only recourse would be to contact the ticket seller.

The get-in price averages do not include standing-room-only tickets.

Ticket prices

For our look at Packers' tickets prices, we average the lowest ticket prices at 11 secondary-market websites: Event USA, GametimeGreen Bay Ticket Service,  SeatGeekStubHubTicketIQTicket KingTicketmasterTickPick, TicketSmarter and Vivid Seats.

Note that ticket brokers can add fees on top of the prices listed here, so actual costs might be higher.

The following are secondary market ticket prices as of Oct. 16:

Oct. 22, 3:25 p.m., Empower Field at Mile High, Denver Broncos, CBS

Face-price range: N/A

Average lowest-cost seat: $181

Price on Sept. 29: $209

Range of lowest-cost seats: $141-$228

Broncos results: Denver is 1-5. The Broncos were defeated 19-8 on Oct. 12 by the Kansas City Chiefs.

What matters about this game?: Both teams are trying to find themselves, but the Packers seem less flummoxed, although Broncos coach Sean Payton will always be a dangerous opponent. A win would return the Packers to .500, and keep them in the running for a playoff spot. Fans, as a rule, said before the season they'd be happy if the Packers won as many games as they lost. A win in Denver would keep them on track.

A Packers Everywhere pep rally is scheduled for 6 p.m. Mountain Time Saturday at Tom’s Watch Bar, 1601 19th St., Unit 100, Denver.

Oct. 29, noon, Lambeau Field, Minnesota Vikings, Fox

Face-price range: $129-$165

Average lowest-cost seat: $205

Price on Sept. 29: $201

Range of lowest-cost seats: $133-$300

Vikings results: Minnesota is 2-4. The Vikings defeated the Chicago Bears 19-13 on Sunday.

What matters about this game?: This is a late fall, noon game in October at Lambeau Field against the Packers' most hated (real hate, not Bears hate) rivals. Ticket prices are holding up, despite the two teams' records.

The Vikings are the same team they were last year, playing one close game after another, only this year they are losing those games. They have four losses by seven points or less and wins by eight and six. They very nearly lost Sunday's game against the Bears with rookie quarterback Tyson Bagent filling in for injured Justin Fields and taking his first-ever NFL snaps. Matt LaFleur's teams are 5-3 against the Vikings.

The Vikings play the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football before their game against the Packers. Expect the 49ers to try to erase the embarrassment of Sunday's 19-17 upset loss in Cleveland.

Nov. 5, noon, Lambeau Field, Los Angeles Rams, Fox

Face-price range: $129-$165

Average lowest-cost seat: $158

Price on Sept. 29: $146

Range of lowest-cost seats: $125-$205

Rams results: Los Angeles is 3-3. The Rams defeated the Arizona Cardinals 26-9 on Sunday.

What matters about this game?: At $158 average get-in price, this game is a bargain. Another noon game at Lambeau Field, it's in the sweet spot before really cold weather and snow.

As previously noted, this will be the fourth time the Rams play at Lambeau Field in three years, and they lost all three previous games. Probably not going to be a lot of Rams fans in Lambeau Field, which will keep prices down.

The Rams play the Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2) and the Dallas Cowboys (3-2 before Monday night's game), before traveling to Green Bay.

Nov. 12, noon, Acrisure Stadium, Pittsburgh Steelers, CBS

Face-price range: N/A

Average lowest-cost seat: $204

Price in August: $152

Range of lowest-cost seats: $165-$253

Steelers results: Pittsburgh is 3-2. The Steelers defeated the Baltimore Ravens 17-10 on Oct. 8.

What matters about this game?: The Steelers offense is sputtering this year, but head coach Mike Tomlin hasn't had a losing year in 16 complete seasons in Pittsburgh. They find ways to win. The Packers lost their last five games in Pittsburgh dating to 1980. The cities and the fan bases have a lot in common and both travel extremely well. The Steelers game in Las Vegas was even more expensive than the Packers game there, which was Green Bay's most expensive game of the year.

Pittsburgh plays the Rams (3-3), the Jacksonville Jaguars (4-2) and the Tennessee Titans (2-4) before hosting the Packers. It will be Pittsburgh's third consecutive home game.
