OU football lands former Norman North standout, Baylor tight end Jake Roberts in portal

NORMAN — Jake Roberts is coming home.

The former Norman North standout and Baylor transfer tight end announced his commitment to OU on Monday.

"There's only one Oklahoma," Roberts said via X, formerly Twitter. "I'm coming home. Boomer Sooner."

Roberts is a junior who spent the first three years of his college career at North Texas under Seth Littrell, who OU promoted to its co-offensive coordinator on Nov. 28.

Roberts spent this past season at Baylor. He caught 23 passes for 231 yards and one touchdown.

Roberts has an opportunity to contribute right away for OU, which figures to have an open competition for its starting tight end spot following the graduation of Austin Stogner. The Sooners also added Bauer Sharp, a Southeastern Louisiana tight end, via the transfer portal on Dec. 18.

Roberts' commitment is also a good sign on the recruiting trail for OU, which hopes to land his younger brother. Nate Roberts is a four-star tight end in the 2025 class at Washington High School who holds offers from programs such as OU, Ohio State and Oregon.
