NORMAN — OU has had plenty of football players throw their names into the transfer portal.

Some expected, some not.

But the addition of freshman offensive lineman Cayden Green to the portal Tuesday might've been the most stunning of not only this group but of the transfer portal era.

Green looked to be one of the building blocks of the Sooners' offensive line as it transitions into the SEC next season.

As recently as six days before entering the portal, Green publicly welcomed a transfer portal addition, Michigan State transfer Spencer Brown, to the program on X (formerly Twitter).

Green drew especially effusive praise from OU coach Brent Venables following the Sooners win over BYU late in the season.

"Cayden Green was a manimal out there," Venables said. "Really fantastic for a true freshman on the offensive line to have the kind of success that he has."
