Brueggemann bomb

The lefty-lefty matchup didn’t bother Colin Brueggemann, who extended the OSU lead to 14-5 in the top of the eighth.

The Cowboy first baseman drove his fourth home run of the season to the deepest part of the park, near the 410-foot sign in left-center field. It was OSU's third home run of the game.

OSU’s Jaxson Crull drives in a pair

OSU extended its lead to 13-5 thanks to a two-run single by Jaxson Crull.

Kollin Ritchie singled to start the inning and Avery Ortiz was hit by a pitch, then both moved up a base with a sacrifice bunt by Charlie Carter.

Then Crull followed with the sharp single up the middle.

OU picks up another run

Thanks to another OSU mistake, the Sooners cut deeper into the deficit, trailing the Cowboys 11-5 after six innings.

OU’s Jackson Willits reached on an error and moved to third on John Spikerman’s single. Then Willits scored when Bryce Madron grounded out to second base.

Sooners add two in fifth

OU hadn’t done anything against OSU reliever Tommy Molsky, who struck out the first six batters he faced. But with a walk, a single, a hit batter and two more walks, the Sooners pushed a pair of runs in, cutting the OSU lead to 11-4 in the bottom of the fifth.

The second walk spelled the end of the day for Molsky, who came into the game with seven strikeouts in six innings for the season. All eight outs he recorded Tuesday were strikeouts. Gabe Davis got a grounder to first, which was snagged by Colin Brueggeman on a tough diving play to his right. He won the race to the bag for the out.

OSU's Carson Benge, Tyler Wulfert add to lead

OSU extended its lead to 11-2 with three more runs in the top of the fourth.

Slapping a double into the left field corner, Carson Benge added one. Zach Ehrhard had singled, stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error before coming home on Benge’s double.

Then Benge got an easy trot home when Tyler Wulfert lined a homer to left field, the Cowboys’ second long ball of the game.

The inning could’ve been worse had OU not eliminated a couple potential runs with a 3-6-1 double play just ahead of Wulfert’s homer.

OSU’s Tyler Wulfert delivers again

OSU third baseman Tyler Wulfers smoked a grounder that couldn’t be handled by OU third baseman Michael Snyder, allowing Aidan Meola to score from second base. That put OSU up 8-2.

The top of the second inning ended when Wulfert was thrown out trying to score on Kollin Ritchie’s single to right field.

Michael Snyder gets OU on board

OU got off to a good start in digging itself out of an early 7-run deficit.

Michael Snyder’s single to center brought home John Spikerman and Bryce Madron with one out in the inning.

Cowboy starter Ryan Bogusz got out of the inning without any further damage to keep the Cowboys on top 7-2 after an inning.

Cowboys score 7 in first

OSU jumped to a 7-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

Singles by Jaxson Crull and Carson Benge put Cowboys on the corners before Aidan Meola nubbed a soft grounder to third base for what turned out to be an infield hit, scoring Crull from third.

After Colin Brueggemann was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Tyler Wulfert lined a shot to the center field wall for a two-run double. Then freshman Kollin Ritchie launched a three-run home run well out of the park to right field for a 6-0 lead.

Crull came back to the plate with one out and runners on the corners, laying down a bunt to score Avery Ortiz for the final run of the inning.

Senior starters on the hill
