Brandon Innins' first college reception is a big one for Ohio State: OSU 41, Purdue 7

Freshman Brandon Innis caught a pass from Devin Brown, made a beautiful start-and-stop move to evade a defender and then outran several other Purdue players for a 58-yard touchdown.

OSU's mini-slump continues

The Buckeyes' last three drives have ended with a punt, fumble and punt – in that order. Part of the reason for that is Ohio State's Kyle McCord has now been whistled for intentional grounding in three straight games.

Ohio State no longer pitching a shutout: OSU 34, Purdue 7

Given their kicking struggles, Purdue went for it on fourth-and-7 and gained 18. One play and one false start penalty later, the Boilermakers ended Ohio State's shutout. Hudson Card completed a 6-yard pass to Deion Burks.

Ohio State's offense in a tiny rut

After punting to end their previous drive, quarterback Kyle McCord gave Purdue the ball back again with a fumble. Nic Scourton hit McCord, Yanni Pur Karlaftis recovered.

Ohio State tight end Cade Stover makes second touchdown catch: OSU 34, Purdue 0

"Farmer Gronk" Cade Stover has his second TD of the game, this time it was a 14-yard reception that capped a drive that also included a 55-yard pass from Kyle McCord to Carnell Tate.

Defensive back Denzel Burke latest Buckeye hurt

During Purdue's latest drive, Ohio State cornerback Denzel Burke went into OSU's medical tent, and he just left the field with a trainer. More details on his situation as they become available. Jermaine Matthews and Jordan Hancock filled in for Burke while he was out.

Purdue 0 for 3 on field goal tries

After missing his first two attempts, Julio Macias also was no good on his third field goal attempt as this 27-yard try went wide left. Purdue remains scoreless.

Dallen Hayden scores for Ohio State: OSU 27, Purdue 0

With TreVeyon Henderson, Miyan Williams ruled out today and then Chip Trayanum hurt during the game against Purdue, Dallen Hayden has stepped up. He's OSU's leading rusher with 64 yards on 8 carries, and he just scored a 1-yard touchdown for the Buckeyes.

Ohio State defense makes key stops before halftime to keep Purdue scoreless

Ohio State punted for the first time today and gave Purdue the ball back with 2:02 remaining. During the resulting drive, Purdue made some big plays, but Tommy Eichenberg also made a stop for a 1-yard loss, Denzel Burke broke up a pass in the end zone and Jack Sawyer and J.T. Tuimoloau ganged up for a sack that cost the Boilermakers 10 yards.

When Julio Macias attempted a 39-yard field goal after that, the ball hit the left post.

A light mist has started to fall in West Lafayette.

OSU's Jack Sawyer records his first sack of the season

Ohio State's defensive domination continues. They have given up just 18 yards since Purdue's opening drive, and Jack Sawyer sacked Hudson Card for a 7-yard loss during Purdue's most recent possession.

New faces help set up Cade Stover touchdown: Ohio State 20, Purdue 0

Dallan Hayden's 14-yard rush, followed by Xavier Johnson picking up 15 yards set up Cade Stover's 4-yard touchdown catch. Both Hayden and Johnson are seeing increased roles today thanks to injuries.

This was Stover's second touchdown reception in 2023.

Ohio State defense stymies Purdue

The Buckeyes have held the Boilermakers to 56 yards of offense with around eight minutes remaining in the second quarter, 44 of those came on the team's opening drive.

Ohio State's Devin Brown fumbles

Brought in again to help the running game, quarterback Devin Brown did indeed find space in the middle of the Purdue defense for a 7-yard gain, but when he was hit, he coughed up the ball. He was just short of the goal line, therefore, when the Boilermakers recovered it, the result was a touchback.

Ohio State's Chip Trayanum hurt

On a day when TreVeyon Henderson and Miyan Williams are already out, OSU has been forced to remove running back Chip Trayanum from the game as he was very apparently woozy after taking a hard hit.

The athletic training staff took Trayanum's helmet and helped him into the medical tent, which he departed moments later. According to the 97.1 radio broadcast, Trayanum will eventually be reevaluated.

Dallan Hayden has entered the contest for the Buckeyes. Caden Curry was used a few plays after that as an OSU upback.

Devin Brown rushes for a touchdown: Ohio State 13, Purdue 0

After coming into the game for Kyle McCord, quarterback Devin Brown rushed 8 yards on a third down, seven more than OSU needed to keep their drive alive. He later ran 2 yards for a score. An interesting wrinkle from the Buckeyes today.

Devin Brown behind center for Ohio State

OSU brought in quarterback Devin Brown and he rushed for 8 yards on the subsequent play. He remains in the game, and we'll keep you updated on Kyle McCord's status.

It seems likely that Brown was inserted into the game simply to juice the Buckeyes' running game because there is zero indication McCord is hurt.

Ohio State's defense gives OSU excellent field position

OSU's Tyleik Williams tackled Dylan Downing for a 1-yard loss and the Buckeyes forced a three-and-out, giving the Buckeyes the ball at their own 49 after a punt. Williams now has TFL's in five straight games.

OSU's Marvin Harrison putting on a show: Ohio State 6, Purdue 0

Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. capped OSU's opening drive with a 14-yard touchdown. He als made catches of 15 and 34 yards. The latter was a beautiful catch in which Harrison slowed down to grab an underthrown ball and managed to hold on despite being immediately closed in on by two defenders.

Jayden Fielding missed the Buckeyes point-after attempt.

Ohio State's new-look offensive lineup

With wide receiver Emeka Egbuka and running back TreVeyon Henderson out, Xavier Johnson and Chip Trayanum both started for OSU.

Purdue's quick start fizzles

On Purdue's first five plays, the Boilermakers' shortest gain was 3 yards, and there were plays of 9 and 17 yards, but Ohio State's defense finally buckled down and held and held Purdue to a 49-yard field goal attempt, which they missed.

Ohio State wins the coin toss

Although the Buckeyes have a couple of times this season opted to take the ball when winning the toss, today OSU chose to defer to the second half when the coin came up heads.

According to the National Weather Service, it's 55 degrees and overcast at Ross-Ade Stadium as the Buckeyes and Boilermakers approach kickoff. There's a west wind with speeds around 7 mph.

Purdue 2023 schedule: How are the Boilermakers doing?

The Boilermakers have a road win against Virginia Tech and a home win against Illinois, but also have losses to Fresno State, Syracuse, Wisconsin and Iowa.

Obviously, with this record, Purdue is unranked, and Ohio State coach Ryan Day is 33-0 as a head coach against unranked opponents.

Ohio State's TreVeyon Henderson is not in pads

Ohio State football has begun its second round of warmups, and TreVeyon Henderson is wearing sweats and watching the other running backs. No official word from Ohio State, but it doesn't look like he'll be available today.

They are slightly better against the pass, and rank No. 77 and No. 9, respectively, in that category.

Here's what Ohio State offensive coordinator Brian Hartline said when asked to evaluate the Buckeyes' rushing attack.

Ohio State WR Emeka Egbuka is also out after suffering an apparent leg injury against Maryland.

The Buckeyes will also be without Nolan Baudo, T.C. Caffey, Kyion Grayes, Zak Herbstreit, Joe Royer, Will Smith Jr., Reis Stocksdale and Kourt Williams II.

Defensive tackle Jaden McKenzie is questionable, a designation the team announced Saturday morning.
