Oshkosh West leads area high school softball rankings; Waupun No. 1 in baseball

Here are the high school softball and baseball rankings for the Oshkosh and Fond du Lac area through Tuesday's games.

Softball

1, Oshkosh West (13-2): Wildcats ranked No. 8 in latest Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association rankings in Division 1 and have showdown with Fox Valley Association leader Kaukauna on Thursday. Junior infielder Braelee Jodarski is batting .408 with 17 RBIs. Next: Thursday at Kaukauna.

2, Winnebago Lutheran (12-0): Vikings batting .369 as a team and have a pair of outstanding pitchers in seniors Natalee Boelk (6-0 record, 2.14 ERA) and Audrey Schumacher (6-0, 0.78). Next: Friday vs. Lomira.

3, Oakfield (12-1): Oakfield's lone loss was to New Holstein on April 21. Oaks have outscored their opponents 61-0 over the past four games. Next: Thursday vs. Randolph.

4, Waupun (14-2): Junior infielder Lexie Gerritson has three home runs and 26 RBIs to lead high-powered Warriors offense. Next: Thursday vs. Kewaskum.

5, Mayville (8-3): Cardinals' Allie Schwirtz batting .346 with nine RBIs and is also 3-2 with a 2.33 ERA in the circle. Next: Friday vs. Laconia.

Others: Winneconne (10-4), Fond du Lac (9-6), Campbellsport (7-5), Lomira (8-4), Lourdes Academy (8-6).

Baseball

1, Waupun (14-1): Warriors ranked third in latest Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association Division 3 poll. Evan Sauer has 19 hits, 18 RBIs and 19 stolen bases. Next: Thursday vs. Plymouth (DH).

2, Oakfield (9-0): Oaks ranked second in latest WBCA poll in D4. Junior pitcher Owen Sabel is 4-0 with an ERA of 0.37. Next: Thursday at Green Lake/Princeton.

3, Campbellsport (9-2): Cougars in honorable-mention section of latest D2 rankings by Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association. Next: Friday vs. St. Mary's Springs.

4, Laconia (8-2): Spartans honorable mention in latest D3 WBCA poll. Next: Thursday at Omro.

5, St. Mary's Springs (8-5): Ledgers split their last four games but are coming off 10-0 blanking of Gibraltar on Saturday. Next: Thursday vs. Lomira.
