OSAA track and field roundup: Willamina's Hallee Hughes wins two titles

A group Mid-Valley athletes got things started off in good fashion Thursday at the OSAA 3A, 2A and 1A track and field state championships at Hayward Field in Eugene.

Willamina’s Hallee Hughes won a pair of state titles, winning the 2A javelin state title with a throw of 139-04, and the 2A discus state title with a throw of 139-07.

Gervais athlete Olivia Boyd successfully defended her 2A high jump state title with a height of 5-04.25.

On the boys side in 2A, Regis athlete Tim Crowell won the pole vault state title with a height of 12-00.

Action will continue throughout Thursday.

The OSAA championships go through Saturday, with all six classifications going Friday, and 6A, 5A and 4A wrapping up Saturday.

Thursday had finals and preliminaries for all three classifications.
