Oregon State could miss key offensive weapon for huge Week 4 game vs USC

USC is preparing to play Fresno State this coming weekend. Obviously, first things come first for the Trojans, who can’t get caught looking ahead to that mammoth Week 4 game in Corvallis. However, some significant news could be developing at Oregon State in connection with that clash against USC.

Oregon State head coach Jonathan Smith has said that tight end Luke Musgrave, widely acknowledged as a very important part of the Beavers’ passing game, and one of quarterback Chance Nolan’s more reliable targets, is injured and might miss more than one week. Obviously, if Musgrave misses more than one week, that means he would miss the USC game on Sept. 24.

Musgrave’s backup is Jake Overman. Many Oregon State fans think he could adequately fill in for Musgrave. Some Beaver fans have expressed skepticism that Overman could fully replace what Musgrave brings to the table.

The main point: Oregon State certainly needs its very best collection of offensive resources to dominate USC’s defense. OSU either needs to win a potential shootout or (the more likely scenario) control the ball for 40 minutes so that Caleb Williams doesn’t get enough possessions against the Beavers.
