Orange has launched the brand new Msisle EPO – Electric Powered Orange – at the Eurobike show. The new electric hardtail mountain bike is the latest launch from the renowned Yorkshire MTB brand after they recently dropped the Orange Switch 6 and the Orange Stage 7. Featuring a newly designed aluminum frame in 'Yorkshire Teal' colorway. We had a first look and a chat over the features with Kelvin Lawton, Product Manager at Orange, who introduced the Msisle.

"It's a truly unique bike, and our test riders involved in the Msisle project are unanimously in love with this bike. If you love ragging hardtails, then this is the e-MTB you've been waiting for."

Like all Orange bikes, the new Msisle is designed, manufactured and tested in the UK at Orange's own facility. The aluminum frames that Orange say weigh less than many carbon-framed bikes in the same category, and start life as flat sheets of aerospace-grade aluminum. The individually custom-fabricated tubes are then seam-welded with a final product that they say is strong, durable and, importantly, fully recyclable. Orange also offer a five year warranty and a limited lifetime crash replacement.

The Msisle is a mixed wheel (aka mullet) bike with the usual MX sizing of a 29-inch front wheel and 27.5-inch rear. The bike weighs in at around 21kg, features a 150mm fork from Rockshox and the Orange trail honed geometry with a 64-degree Head Angle, 75-degree Seat Angle and a reach between 435mm and 491mm depending on the frame size. Orange has also made shorter seat tube sizing varying from 16 to 19 inches for the maximum dropper post compatibility, again depending on the sizing of the frame chosen.

The model Orange had at Eurobike had a RockShox Lyrik Ultimate 150mm fork, Rockshox Reverb AXS 170mm dropper and came specced with a SRAM GX AXS drivetrain. It all rolls on Stans Flow Mk4 wheels and Hope Pro 4 hubs. Frame features include Boost 148x12mm rear hub spacing and a brand-new Zero-stacked tapered headtube. Orange has also added the SRAM UDH hanger.

Power on the Orange Msisle comes from Shimano's latest EP801 motor offering 85Nm of torque and a max assist ratio of 400 percent, a 630Wh Ion Integrated quick-release battery and the four assist modes Walk, Eco, Trail and Boost.
