Marc Guehi could make his long-awaited return to the Crystal Palace team when they host Manchester United on Monday, with Oliver Glasner “optimistic” the Eagles can hold onto him this summer.

Guehi has not played since suffering a knee injury early on in the 4-1 defeat to rivlas Brighton on February 3.

The 23-year-old centre-back will be involved when Palace welcome United to Selhurst Park on Monday, in a boost to Guehi’s hopes of being selected in England’s Euro 2024 squad.

Eberechi Eze missed the 1-1 draw with Fulham last weekend with a minor knock but is also in contention to face United.

“If everything continues as we expect, both will be in the squad,” Glasner said.

Asked how confident he is the club can keep hold of Eze, Guehi and Michael Olise this summer, the Eagles boss replied: “I'm always optimistic as all these players have contracts with Crystal Palace.

“It’s May and many situations can change. Nothing is 100 per cent but he’s under contract, he [Guehi] is a good player, he’s our captain, so I'm very positive and confident that he plays for Crystal Palace.

“I also read that almost the whole squad of Man United is available, so maybe we can get 10 from them! Every game is an audition for the players and us as a team.”

After victories over Liverpool, West Ham and Newcastle and the draw with Fulham, Glasner is keen for Palace to continue on their strong end to the season.

“We hope that we can keep this momentum,” he said. “It is up to us how we work during the week.

“The players could relax for four days [off]. [Now] they look ready; I could see how focused they are in training. We’re four games unbeaten and the goal is staying unbeaten until the end of season.”

After Monday’s meeting with United, Palace complete their campaign by travelling to face Wolves and then hosting Aston Villa on the final day.
