Ole Miss football lands transfer Isaac Ukwu, All-Sun Belt edge rusher from James Madison

Make it two defensive line additions in two days for Ole Miss football.

The Rebels received a commitment from James Madison transfer edge-rusher Isaac Ukwu on Friday evening, one day after Nebraska transfer defensive tackle Stephon Wynn Jr. pledged to play for Ole Miss.

Ukwu earned first-team All-Sun Belt recognition for his play in 2022 and was a second-team All-Colonial Athletic Association honoree the season prior.

Listed at 6-foot-3, 260 pounds, Ukwu recorded 40 total tackles and 7.5 sacks last season. He also finished with 10.5 tackles for loss, forced one fumble and recovered another.

For a re-imagined Ole Miss defensive front that doesn't offer much in the way of pass-rushing excellence, Ukwu is an exciting addition for new coordinator Pete Golding.

He'll also instantly become one of the most experienced players on the Rebels' roster.

Ukwu arrived at James Madison all the way back in 2017. He played three games the following season, then missed the next two due to injury.

He'll have one season of eligibility remaining.
