Ole Miss basketball score vs. Alcorn State: Live updates from the Rebels' opener
OXFORD — Ole Miss basketball begins its season at home looking to score a victory over Alcorn State.
The Rebels are entering their fifth season under head coach Kermit Davis, and will be looking to return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2018-19 — Davis' first season in charge.
Ole Miss concluded last season with a 13-19 overall mark, finishing 13th in the 14-team SEC with a 4-14 conference record. The preseason SEC media poll projects some improvement for the Rebels, though, with the pollsters predicting Davis' squad to finish ninth in the conference.

Davis' Rebels will have plenty of new ideas about them as they begin the new campaign. Ole Miss signed four transfer additions ahead of the 2022-23 season, and added four freshmen that made up the No. 25 recruiting class in the nation last cycle according to the 247Sports Composite.
Alcorn State will be an interesting first test for the Rebels. The Braves finished first in the SWAC last season, but fell shy in the conference tournament and as a result were forced to settle for an NIT appearance. They finished 17-17 overall.
