Ole Miss baseball score vs. Auburn: Live updates from Swayze Field

OXFORD — Ole Miss baseball will be out to score a key series win when it welcomes Auburn to Swayze Field for a three-game SEC series beginning Friday.

The Rebels (25-23, 6-18 SEC) occupy last place in the SEC heading into the weekend, tied with Mississippi State at the bottom and trailing Mizzou by one game in 12th. Ole Miss will need to leapfrog both of those teams in order to qualify for the SEC Tournament at the end of the regular season, but both the Tigers and Bulldogs hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Rebels.

Few teams around the conference have been playing better baseball than Auburn (27-19-1, 11-13) recently. The Tigers have won three consecutive SEC series, topping two top-10 foes in LSU and South Carolina along the way.

Xavier Rivas (5-3, 5.83 ERA) will take the ball to start the series for Ole Miss on Thursday. He'll be opposed by Auburn's Chase Allsup (0-1, 7.20). JT Quinn (3-2, 5.86) is slated to start Friday for the Rebels against Tommy Vail (4-1, 3.68). Ole Miss has not yet announced its Saturday starter. Christian Herberholtz (1-3, 4.37) will start for the visitors.
