Three things to know about OSU vs. Oakland
► OSU junior Avery Anderson III scored 13 points — all in the first half — while totaling five assists, four rebounds, three steals and a blocked shot during Tuesday’s 88-45 rout of Texas-Arlington. Last season, Anderson burst onto the scene late as a strong scorer. He scored 31 points at West Virginia and then dropped 17 on the Mountaineers again in the Big 12 Tournament and 20 in the upset of Baylor in the tournament.
► The Cowboys totaled 15 steals in the opener, the most since 2017 against Bedlam rival OU. It also tied for 10th in program history. Former Putnam West star Rondel Walker led the way with four steals.
► OSU and Oakland — located in Rochester, Michigan — met for the first time last season, an 84-71 victory in Stillwater by the Cowboys despite Oakland’s Rashad Williams making 10 3-pointers. Williams has since transferred to Saint Louis to play for former OSU coach Travis Ford and former OSU sharpshooters Phil Forte and Thomas Dziagwa.
