Oklahoma offers 2025 offensive lineman Jonte Newman

2025 offensive lineman Jonte Newman was at the latest Oklahoma Sooners camp and, by all accounts, had a great performance. Shortly after working with the Sooners coaching staff in Norman, Newman received his official offer from Bill Bedenbaugh and the Sooners.

Newman stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 290 pounds. He’s from Cypress, Texas, and plays high school at Bridgeland. His primary position is left tackle, but he’s got some versatility to his game.

The only recruiting service to rank him so far is On3, and they have him as a three-star prospect. Newman is ranked No. 246 overall, the No. 22 offensive tackle, and the No. 41 player in the state of Texas.

He only has offers from Texas Tech, Texas A&M, TCU, and Prairie View A&M. Now Oklahoma joins that group. Oklahoma seems to be in on the ground floor of Newman’s recruitment.

Bill Bedenbaugh clearly sees something in Newman, despite the overall lack of exposure he’s had in his recruitment. There’s nothing official yet, and his recruitment is just getting started, but according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, TCU and Oklahoma are the top two teams in his recruitment.

Heading into his junior year, and with more offers beginning to roll in, Newman could see a rise in the industry recruiting rankings. Bedenbaugh sees something in him, so that could have an impact on the way the recruiting services see the Texas product.
