Ohio State football vs Rutgers: Five observations halftime review

Welcome to halftime of the Ohio State football game against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and we have another classic Buckeye slow start. Ohio State is losing to Rutgers to the tune of 9-7. That’s right, let that soak in the Buckeyes are losing to the Scarlet Knights.

It is crazy to think there is a scenario where Ohio State is almost a three-touchdown favorite and loses outright to a much improved, but still lowly Rutgers squad.

This game is not just frustrating, but it’s upsetting, the Buckeyes looked like garbage last week and we let it go, but this game is unacceptable. Let’s dive into the top five most interesting points of the first half.

Where is the offense?

Thoughts

Zach is 100% right, this offense looks like garbage and every player looks like they don’t want to be there. Somebody better wake up in the second half, because they will lose at this rate.

Perception

Thoughts

So it was nice being ranked number one, but even if Ohio State (which I think it will) squeaks out a victory, no way anyone in their right mind would rank this team number one again.

Thank goodness for field goals

Thoughts

Greg Schiano is pretty obviously a good coach, but the dude is still classic conservative and we should be thanking him for that because this lead could have been larger.

Schiano = underrated

Thoughts

There is no situation in the world where Ohio State should lose to Rutgers and I do believe that the Buckeyes right the ship, but also we need to respect what Greg Schiano has done for the Scarlet Knights.

Not sustainable

Thoughts

Rutgers can’t throw the ball, what little offensive success is has had has been through big plays and gimmicky calls and those things just aren’t sustainable. Going into halftime losing is still upsetting, but Ohio State should still get the win.
