Ohio State football now right at 85-player scholarship limit

With all of the returning talent that could have gone off to the NFL and recent transfer portal additions, you may be wondering where the Ohio State football program is when it comes to the 85-player scholarship limit mandated by the NCAA.

Well, wonder no more.

After news of Trey Leroux moving on from football, as confirmed by Eleven Warriors, the Buckeyes are now right at the 85-player limit, exactly where they need to be.

That doesn’t mean things will change of course, with Ohio State still peering into the transfer portal and other opportunities that may present themselves, but for now, the personnel management side of things seems to have worked themselves out.

Many questioned the direction of portal utilization by head coach Ryan Day, but it now looks like waiting for things to play out sure seems to have panned out. We’ll continue to keep an eye close to any further defections or additions during the offseason, but at this point, expect most of the movement to take a bit of a break.

What a chaotic and yet exhilarating offseason so far in Columbus.
