EAST RUTHERFORD -- With the final pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, aka "Mr. Irrelevant," the Jets selected Alabama safety Jaylen Key.

This is only the second defensive player general manager Joe Douglas and the front office drafted during the three-day event in Detroit.

Key combined to play in 35 games in college between UAB and Alabama.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound senior to the Crimson Tide his after his junior year in the C-USA where he finished with 60 tackles, four tackle-for-losses, three interceptions and two forced fumbles in 2022.

The Jets will hope Key can have anything close to an impact that 2022 Mr. Irrelevant, 49ers' QB Brock Purdy, has had in the NFL.

In his first two seasons, Purdy has led San Francisco to two NFC Championship games appearances and a Super Bowl 58 appearance this past February.
