Notebook: Game and Fish Department to offer game warden exams

Nov. 4—BISMARCK — Individuals interested in taking the North Dakota Game and Fish Department's exam to select candidates for a full-time temporary district game warden position must register by Dec. 27, the department said in a news release. Testing locations are scheduled for 10 a.m. Central time at the following locations the first week in January 2024:

* Jan. 3: Game and Fish office, Williston.

* Jan. 4: Game and Fish office, Bismarck.

* Jan. 5: West Fargo Police Department, West Fargo.

Applicants must be at least 21 years old, have a bachelor's degree at time of hire or an associate degree with either two years of law enforcement or wildlife experience, have a valid driver's license and a current North Dakota peace officer license, or be eligible to be licensed. Candidates must successfully complete a comprehensive background check and must not have a record of any felony convictions.

* Despite the weather, 31 kids signed up for the second annual youth pheasant hunt held Saturday, Oct. 28, in the Fordville, North Dakota, area, organizers said. "Kids came from West Fargo, Fargo, Langdon, Grand Forks and surrounding area towns," Dawn Madson said in an email. "It was definitely colder than last year but everyone had a good time." As part of the event, the Dakota Prairie Wildlife Club, Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club and Mini Monarchs Child Care Facility, purchased and released 300 pheasant roosters in the Fordville area.
