Northern Section football playoffs are here. See which Redding area teams made the cut

The first round of the Northern Section football playoffs will see River Bowl 2.0 in Division II as Shasta grabbed the No. 3 seed and Enterprise landed at No. 6.

That game will be played at 7 p.m. Thursday, because of the Veteran’s Day holiday falling on Friday, at Shasta’s Thompson Field. Many games will be played Thursday, by mutual consent — brackets are available at www.maxpreps.com.

The Wolves (7-3) beat the Hornets (4-6) 27-20 in River Bowl XXXI, erasing a 20-point second-half deficit for the win over their rivals. The winner of Shasta-Enterprise takes on Pleasant Valley (7-3), the two-seed on Nov. 17.

On the other side of the D-II bracket is No. 4 Foothill (5-5) hosting No. 5 Red Bluff (5-5) with the winner taking on top seed Chico (9-1). Foothill beat Red Bluff 34-6 on Oct. 13.

In Division II, teams can’t be seeded out of league finish.

The Division III bracket also features a rematch, one from this weekend as top-seed U-Prep (9-1) hosts Central Valley (5-5). The Panthers beat the Falcons 45-13 in Friday’s regular-season finale.

The road to the D-III finals now runs through west Redding as U-Prep grabbed its first No. 1 seed. The two-seed in the bracket is BVL champion and defending state champion Orland (8-1).

The Trojans, whose game against Durham was canceled because of weather, host No. 7 West Valley (3-7) as the Eagles kept their postseason streak alive. The last time they missed the playoffs was in 2009.

The rest of the Division III bracket features No. 6 Live Oak (6-4) at No. 3 Gridley (7-3). The Bulldogs lost 35-14 Friday to Orland in a game that decided the BVL title and the two-seed.

The other intriguing matchup in D-III is No. 5 Lassen (5-5) traveling to No. 4 Pierce (7-3). The Grizzlies made a midseason coaching change as well as a scheme change and have won their last four games — 42-0, 47-14, 41-6 and 39-8. Their only loss in Northern Athletic League play was 43-21 to U-Prep. They started 0-4 on the year.

In Division IV, 10-0 Colusa is the top seed and earned a first-round bye. The Redhawks take on the winner of No. 4 East Nic (5-5) and No. 5 Williams (3-7).

Winters (7-3) is the No. 2 seed and also grabbed a bye, facing the winner of No. 3 Hamilton (8-2) and No. 6 Trinity (4-6).

Fall River is 7-3 but finds itself in an unfamiliar position in the playoffs — on the road. The Bulldogs, the reigning state champion who had a 31-game win streak snapped earlier this season, is the No. 5 seed and travels to No. 4 Los Molinos (7-3) in the first round. Los Molinos beat Fall River 32-28 on Oct. 27. The winner plays 10- Portola, the one-seed, the following week.

Weed (8-2) is the two-seed and faces the winner of No. 3 Biggs (7-3) hosting No. 6 Modoc (4-6).
