Northern Michigan high school football scores, updates for Week 8
Welcome to Week 8 of the Michigan high school football season, otherwise known as the pre-playoffs.
If there’s any plans of playing past Week 9, they have to start to be executed tonight.
There’s teams out there fighting to stay in the playoff race, fighting to get into the race and teams fighting for home field advantage. There’s also conference championships this week and ones yet to be settled next week.
All in all, get ready for a great couple weeks of football.
Around Emmet County this week, Petoskey will travel to Sault Ste. Marie, with both teams hoping to make better cases to deserve a playoff spot in Division 3 and 4, respectively.
Boyne City travels all the way to Oscoda to keep their playoff hopes alive, then Harbor Springs brings in Elk Rapids, looking to end a season that’ll close next week on a strong note.
Then there’s the potential conference champs. East Jordan welcomes in Frankfort for a battle of unbeatens within the Legends Division. The winner will be crowned league champion.
Charlevoix is also hitting the road looking to put a final stamp on a conference title on Saturday in Tawas.
Within Otsego County, Division 3 No. 4 Gaylord brings in Division 7 No. 1 Jackson Lumen Christi for a non-conference clash that’ll have both teams looking to show their strength.
Gaylord St. Mary will head across the bridge to Rudyard, a team that might be on a slide, though is still giving teams tough games. Then Johannesburg-Lewiston hits the road to Mancelona trying to get back on their feet.
