North Jersey football: Public Top 20 and Big Six rankings after Week 1

Passaic Tech and Bergen Catholic, respectively, remain atop the North Jersey Public Top 20 and Big Six rankings after the opening weeks of the regular season.

Passaic Tech, last year's NJSIAA Group 5 runner-up, and Bergen Catholic, the two-time defending Non-Public A champion, each opened this season with a pair of victories.

Passaic Tech is followed in the Public Top 20 by No. 2 Northern Highlands, No. 3 Westwood and No. 4 Ramapo, which opened its season in Week 1 with a controversial final-play win over New York powerhouse Somers.

Bergen Catholic is followed in the non-public Big Six rankings by No. 2 St. Joseph, No. 3 Don Bosco, No. 4 DePaul and No. 5 Paramus Catholic, which at 2-0 has already equaled last year's win total.
