North Carolina high school football scores, live updates NCHSAA Week 9 in Wilmington, NC

With just three weeks of regular season high school football remaining, Friday marks a pivotal point in every Wilmington-area team's season.

All 10 area teams are slotted to take the field Friday night, and a new position in the MEC will be determined as New Hanover (4-3, 3-1 MEC) and Laney (5-2, 3-1 MEC) battle for second place.

After a monumental game for Pender (4-3, 1-2 Waccamaw) in Week 8, the Patriots face a hefty challenge as host Whiteville in Burgaw. Ashley (4-3, 2-2) is also involved in a significant game as it hosts South Brunswick (2-5, 0-4) in a must-win game for both programs.
