No UNC basketball players selected in first ESPN 2024 NBA mock daft

The University of North Carolina didn’t have a single player drafted in the 2023 NBA draft for the second-straight year. It’s something that hasn’t happened in 20 years and they will look to 2024 to get that turned around.

After missing the 2023 NCAA Tournament, UNC saw a mass exodus in terms of the transfer portal and are welcoming in plenty of new faces including a two-man recruiting class. But do they have a single draft prospect that will hear their name called next June?

ESPN doesn’t think so, at least in their first mock for the 2024 NBA draft.

On Saturday, Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo put together their first mock, covering every pick. They didn’t have a single Tar Heel listed for any of the 59 selections.

That’s a little shocking seeing that SB Nation did have Elliot Cadeau as a lottery pick in their first mock. If Cadeau does live up to the hype he likely wont be at UNC for long and could be a lottery pick for 2024.

Other candidates could include Armando Bacot who is back for a fifth year and R.J. Davis. But both would have to climb the ranks a little and have spectacular years.
