No. 5 Oregon State starts Sandia alum, slugs UNM baseball

Feb. 16—Fifth-ranked Oregon State belted seven home runs and used a seven-run fourth inning to break things open in a 15-6 opening-day win over the University of New Mexico baseball team on Friday.

In game one of the annual College Baseball Classic in Surprise, Arizona, the Beavers led 4-1 after three innings. They rolled up seven runs in the fourth against UNM starter Jaren Jackson and reliever Josh Barnhouse, making a winner of OSU starter and Sandia High School alumnus Aiden May, who allowed one run in 5 1/3 innings.

Jake Holland went 2-for-4 with a homer, and Chase Weissenborn drove inthree runs for the Lobos, who face CSU Bakersfield at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
