No. 20 Iowa comes back to top Northwestern on Jordan Bohannon's last-second shot
The Iowa Hawkeyes have fallen in and out of the AP Top 25 throughout the season, but junior guard Jordan Bohannon was not going to let them lose another big game on Sunday.
Despite trailing by 15 points with 4:30 left in the game, the Hawkeyes stormed back to stun the Northwestern Wildcats on Bohannon’s last-second 3-pointer to win the game, 80-79.
Following Dererk Pardon’s lay-up to put Northwestern up 72-57, Bohannon did the heavy lifting to bring the Hawkeyes back into the game. The 6-foot-1 guard was perfect down the stretch, as he knocked down both of his free throws, a layup and all three of his triples for 13 points.
With help from Joe Wieskamp, who added seven points on perfect shooting as well, the Hawkeyes drew within one point after Isaiah Moss’ layup with 16 seconds left. Iowa lucked out when Northwestern’s Vic Law only hit one of his two free throws, which gave them a shot to tie or win the game.
But instead of going for the easier shot to send the game into overtime, Bohannon came off a screen and pulled up from well beyond the arc to nail the game-winner.

Even though it initially looked like a buzzer-beater, Northwestern had a chance to put up a shot at the end, although Pardon missed his attempt.
With No. 17 Iowa State and No. 19 Wisconsin losing their last games, Iowa will be looking to move up in the AP Top 25 on Monday. Their only game next week is at Rutgers on Saturday before they host No. 24 Maryland on Feb. 24.
