No. 1 Class B Warner, Castlewood and Florence-Henry secure conference championships

ABERDEEN — Fourth-rated Class AA Watertown improved to 23-5 overall and 6-0 in the Eastern South Dakota Conference with a 3-0 high school volleyball win over Aberdeen Central on Tuesday night.

The Arrows prevailed 25-16, 25-12 and 25-17.

"We played a solid match," said Watertown head coach Rosemary Bellum. "We started strong in Set 1 and finished each set. We also played a very clean match with only 19 unforced errors in three sets."

Natalie Pearson finished 15-15 serving with three aces and 13 digs, Emery Thury 13-14 serving with two aces and 14 kills and Miranda Falconer 11-11 serving with 35 assists for the Arrows.

Emily Tisher made 10 kills, Eve Hauger seven kills, Addi Johnston 12 digs, Hannah Herzog two block assists and Carter Jurrens one solo block.

"We played solid defense with more than 40 digs, keeping Aberdeen Central's attack off the floor," said Bellum.

Leaders for Aberdeen Central (13-9) included Madison Miller, 13-13 serving with four aces; Ayrlie Waldo,7-8 serving with 14 assists, eight digs and one solo block; Lauryn Burckhard nine kills; Kenadi Withers, three kills and two block assists; Taryn Nieman, three kills and two solo and two block assists; and Sawyer Bahr, 10 digs.

Watertown visits top-rated Harrisburg (25-0) at 7 p.m. Monday in a match that will likely decide the ESD championship. Aberdeen Central hosts Sioux Falls Roosevelt at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Castlewood 3, Flandreau 0

CASTLEWOOD — Castlewood grabbed a piece of the Lake Central Conference championship with a 28-26, 25-23 and 25-20 win over Flandreau.

The Warriors ended the regular season 18-8 overall and 5-1 in the LCC and Flandreau 16-9 and 5-1.

Presley Knecht tallied 20 kills and 16 digs, Gracie Haug 32 assists and 13 digs, Cassidy Kirwan 10 kills, Emerson Carter nine kills and three solo and two block assists and Karli Akin 10 digs.

Abby Schoeberl (22 assists and 13 digs), Claire Sheppard (11 kills and five blocks), Sadie Iott (eight kills) and Lily Klein (13 digs) paced Flandreau.

Warner 3, Langford Area 0

WARNER — Top-rated Warner wrapped up a perfect 34-0 regular season and a perfect Lake Region Conference season with the 25-9, 25-11 and 25-16 victory.

Kyleigh Schopp smacked 19 kills, Makenna Leidholt seven and Kyra and Lauren Marcuson each six for Warner. Kyra Marcuson added five aces and 11 digs, Courtney Bjorgaard two aces and 16 digs and Ava Nilsson 33 assists and eight digs.

Langford Area (12-19) was led by Bayleann Moen with three aces, two kills and 21 digs. Megan Gustafson notched seven kills, Elianna Darling three kills and 13 digs, Tawnee Nelson 12 assists and Alex Darling 14 digs.

Florence-Henry 3, Waubay-Summit 0

FLORENCE — The Falcons nailed down another Eastern Coteau Conference title with a 25-11, 25-7, 25-12 win over Waubay-Summit (2-22).

Florence-Henry (19-10 overall and 6-0 in the ECC) received three aces, 19 kills and one solo and one block assist from Caylin Kelly; 10 kills and three block assists from Kate Hulscher; eight kills, 12 digs and one solo and two block assists from Taylor Watson; Ashlyn Vavruska, 27 assists and 12 digs. Kelly went 13-14 serving and Kaylee Vavruska 13-13.

Sisseton 3, Great Plains Lutheran 2

WATERTOWN — Sisseton (11-14) outlasted the host Panthers 22-25, 25-19, 25-15, 15-25 and 15-11.

Abby Kjenstad led GPL (16-12) by going 22-22 serving with two aces,13 kills and 30 digs. Jolie Lien was 14-16 serving with two aces. Kaitlyn Rawerts contributed 22 assists and 15 digs, Madeline Prahl 22 assists, Kaylee Carlson nine kills, Esta Cameron 15 kills, Kate Holmen three solo blocks and one block assist and Grace Powers 15 digs.

Arlington 3, De Smet 0

ARLINGTON — Arlington capped a 12-20 regular season with a 25-15, 25-20 and 25-21 Dakota Valley Conference win over De Smet (4-23).

Jo Steffensen tallied 13 kills and three aces, Addie Steffensen 11 kills and 16 digs and Issie Steffensen 31 assists for Arlington. Harley Johnson notched 20 digs and four aces and Jaelyn Huntimer three aces and two blocks.

Hazel Luethmer recorded 12 kills and two blocks, Brooke Jennings three kills, Mirra Beck three kills, Alyssa Asleson five assists and 11 digs and Megan Dylla 12 assists, nine digs and four aces for De Smet.

Hamlin 3, Clark-Willow Lake 0

HAMLIN EDUCATION CENTER — The Chargers wrapped up a 19-6 regular season with the 26-24, 25-8 and 25-19 win in a match that counted in both the Lake Central and Northeast Conference standings.

Addison Neuendorf (three aces, 12 kills and 11 assists), Marissa Bawdon (18 assists), Grace Opdahl (three aces and six digs), Emily Everson (nine kills) and Jayci Trowbridge (five digs) led Hamlin.

Tehya Vig had 10 good serves and 27 digs, Sarah Thonvold nine good serves and 30 digs, Sami Brenden five assists, Zoe Nichols three assists, Hannah Heiman three kills and Haylee Tormanen two kills and three solo blocks for the Cyclones (10-14).

Milbank 3, Webster Area 0

MILBANK — Rachel Schulte went 6-8 serving with 15 kills, 18 assists and 20 digs to lead the Bulldogs (19-11) to a 25-18, 25-23 and 25-23 Northeast Conference win.

Sierra Wenzl finished 13-14 serving with three aces and 17 digs and Addisyn Krause 14-15 serving with 13 assists for Milbank. Skyler Skoog made nine kills, Shaylee Schuchard six kills and Ella Sandvig 20 digs.

Gracie Cadwell went 11-11 serving with three aces, five kills, 20 digs and one solo and one block assist for Webster Area (10-16).Payton Snell was 10-10 serving and Baylie Somsen 12-13 with 10 assists. Harley Johnson added three assists, Katie Braun three assists and five kills, Erin Sannes one solo and two block assists, Allie Case four kills and Jersey Johnson 14 digs.

Wilmot 3, Britton-Hecla 2

WILMOT — Addison Heinje's 16 kills and two assists carried the Wolves (11-14) to a 21-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-12 and 15-11 victory over the Braves (8-15).

Jada Cameron contributed 11 kills, two blocks and two aces; Julia Anderson four kills; Paige Johnson two aces; Mya Heinje seven assists; and Stacia Redday four assists.

Faulkton Area 3, Wolsey-Wessington 1

FAULKTON — Addison Melius tallied 20 kills and 30 digs and Carley Cotton 20 kills and 27 digs to lead Faulkton Area (21-9) to a 21-25, 25-23, 25-23 and 25-20 win over Wolsey-Wessington (26-4).

Melius also was 12-12 serving. Tegan Baloun went 15-15 serving with two aces and 18 assists for the Trojans, who also got 17 assists from Micah Martinmaas, two solo and three block assists from Kelli Stoecker and one solo and two block assists from Jaymi Senn.

Kailyn Dorris converted 18 of 21 serves with two aces and Lainey Uttecht 16 of 16 with 17 kills and 19 digs for the Warbirds. Kendal Uttecht added four assists, Payton Kemnitz four assists and 24 digs, Tatym Luce six kills and six blocks, Samara Clemente four blocks and Shae Uttecht 19 digs.

Hitchcock-Tulare 3, Wessington Springs 0

TULARE — The Patriots finished off a 22-7 regular season with a 25-14, 25-11 and 25-13 281 Conference win over Wessington Springs (17-13).

Leaders for Hitchcock-Tulare were Katelyn Schroeder, 21 kills, 14 digs and three block assists; Rebecca Huizenga, 10 kills; Lila Johnson, 30 assists and four aces; Gracyn Bixler, four assists; Isabel Gilbert, two aces; and Cambree Hoekman 13 digs.

Raylee Fagerhaug garnered five kills and 10 digs and Alyssa Grohs 10 assists and 12 digs to lead Wessington Springs.

Redfield 3, Tiospa Zina 0

REDFIELD — Kate Rozell's 17 kills and 15 digs powered Redfield to the 25-9, 25-23 and 251-0 Northeast Conference win over the Wambdi (7-20).

The Pheasants (10-16) also got three aces from Chloe Zens, two aces and eight kills from Charli Jungwirth and 19 assists and nine digs from Hayden Gall.

Elkton-Lake Benton 3, Sioux Valley 1

ELKTON — Tevan Erickson tallied three aces, 37 assists, nine kills, four block assists and 19 digs to lead Elkton-Lake Benton to the 25-12, 22-25, 25-20 and 25-15 win.

Other leaders for the Elks (19-11) were Ella Crofutt, 15 digs; Maya Jensen, four kills and seven block assists; Kylie Ramlo, five kills, 10 block assists and 18 digs; Charlie Thooft, two aces, seven kills and seven digs; Aubree Bales nine kills and 10 digs; and Andrea Renkly, two aces, 13 kills and eight digs.

The Cossacks (14-15) were paced by Talya Vincent with 17 digs, Sunny Hesby 17 assists and 10 digs, Elise Lemme 19 digs, Machaela Gerasch 17 assists and 13 digs, Adison Renkly nine kills and three block assists, Keyra Kruse eight kills and five block assists and Kaedyn Sapp two aces, 14 kills, 15 digs and two solo and two block assists.

Colman-Egan 3, Dell Rapids St. Mary 0

COLMAN — Fifth-rated Colman-Egan grabbed a piece of the Dakota Valley Conference title with the 25-21, 25-12 and 25-19 win. The Hawks (25-5 overall) shared the league title with Elkton-Lake Benton and Estelline-Hendricks, all with 8-1 records.

Daniela Lee made 12 kill and 12 digs, Brynlee Landis 10 kills, Lanie Mousel 19 assists and 18 digs, Anna Zwart eight kills, Presley Luze two aces and 10 digs, Kaylee Voelker 18 assists and 13 digs and Elaina Rhode four kills for the Hawks.

Leaders for DRSM included Brianna Griffin, 10 kills; Jenna Miller, 26 digs; Brianna Lindeman two aces and 26 assists and Megan Geraets, five solo blocks.

Miller 3, Highmore-Harrold 0

HIGHMORE — Miller (25-6) won the match 25-2, 25-13 and 25-21.

Shaylee Anderberg had six aces and 10 digs, Jolie Palmer 19 digs, Aleah Schlechter 10 kills and five digs, Paige Werdel 10 kills, Heather Resel 16 assists and Journey Palmer five digs for the Rustlers.

Kenidy Effling finished with three kills and 13 digs, Brooklyn Baloun six assists and Morgan McCloud 11 digs for Highmore-Harrold.

Oldham-Ramona-Rutland 3, Iroquois-Lake Preston 1

IROQUOIS — The Raiders won the regular-season finale 25-23, 21-25, 26-24 and 25-23.

Alivia Bickett notched four aces, 12 kills, 24 digs and two solo and two block assists and Julia Trygstad 15 kills, 18 digs and three solo and two block assists for ORR (11-16). Emily Matson chipped in with four aces and 15 assists, Bella Malisch five kills, Rylan Pearson 15 assists, Kailey Pearson 32 digs and Camlin Schneider four solo and four block assists.

The Sharks fell to 12-15.
