(Adds late games) Dec 10 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Tuesday's National Hockey League games. - - - Kings 6, Canadiens 0 Los Angeles goaltender Martin Jones recorded his second consecutive shutout, and centers Anze Kopitar and Tyler Toffoli each had a goal and an assist to help the Kings snap Montreal's five-game winning streak. The 23-year-old rookie Jones made 30 saves overall, after also blanking the New York Islanders on Saturday, to win his third straight start as Los Angeles (20-7-4) extended its winning streak to four. Montreal (19-10-3) goalie Carey Price allowed four goals on 16 shots before he was pulled for the first time in 25 starts this season. - - - Capitals 6, Lightning 5 (Shootout) In a game that featured a four-goal night by Washington captain Alex Ovechkin, it was a shootout goal by right winger Troy Brouwer that proved to be the difference in the Capitals' win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Ovechkin sent the game into overtime when he scored his fourth goal of the night and 26th of the season with 32.4 seconds remaining in regulation, completing a comeback that began with the Lightning (17-10-2) taking a 3-0 lead. The win was the Capitals' (17-12-2) third straight and fifth in six games. They also moved within seven points of the first-place Pittsburgh Penguins in the Metropolitan Division. - - - Blues 2, Jets 1 St. Louis defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk scored a power-play goal with just over three minutes left in the game to lift the Blues to a triumph over the Winnipeg Jets. Alexander Steen added his 21st goal of the season for St. Louis who improved to 20-6-3, while Winnipeg fell to 14-14-3. - - - Blackhawks 6, Stars 2 Patrick Kane led the way with a goal and two assists for Chicago, who also got two goals apiece from Patrick Sharp and Brandon Saad in a rout of Dallas. Chicago (22-6-5) backup goaltender Antti Raanta stopped 27 of 29 shots to earn his fourth win. Dallas (14-10-5) got both their goals from left wing Antoine Roussel. - - - Blue Jackets 5, Devils 4 Cam Atkinson had two goals and two assists and center Brandon Dubinsky had one goal and three assists, the first four-point games of their respective careers, as the Columbus Blue Jackets came from behind to beat New Jersey. The Devils (12-14-6) scored only 32 seconds into the game and had a 3-1 lead in the second period but Columbus (13-15-3) rallied with three straight goals and got the game-winner from Nick Foligno at 18:29 in the third. - - - Coyotes 3, Avalanche 1 Antoine Vermette scored two goals and right winger Jordan Szwarz added one as the Phoenix Coyotes beat the Colorado Avalanche. Goaltender Thomas Greiss made 29 saves for the Coyotes (17-8-5), who stopped a two-game skid. Colorado (20-9-0) lost for the third time in four games. - - - Predators 4, Rangers 1 Nashville Predators goalie Carter Hutton, making his first start in 14 games, stopped 28 shots in a win over the New York Rangers. The win stopped a five-game losing streak for Nashville (14-14-3) while New York (15-16-1) dropped the first three games of a nine-game homestand. - - - Sabres 2, Senators 1 (Shootout) Buffalo Sabres center Zemgus Girgensons scored in the 10th round of the shootout and also scored in regulation to lead the Sabres to a win over the Ottawa Senators. The shootout was tied at three goals apiece before Girgensons beat Ottawa goalie Robin Lehner with a backhand deke and tucked the puck inside of the right post. Buffalo (7-22-2) ended a three-game losing streak with their triumph over the Senators (12-14-6). - - - Panthers 3, Red Wings 2 (Shootout) The Florida Panthers rallied from a two-goal deficit to defeat the Detroit Red Wings for the second time in four days. The Panthers (10-17-5) scored twice in the third period to erase a 2-0 deficit, then delivered two goals in the shootout to Detroit's one. Florida spoiled the return of Detroit (15-9-8) center Pavel Datsyuk, who played for the first time since missing seven games due to a concussion. He had a goal and an assist. - - - Islanders 3, Sharks 2 (Shootout) Kyle Okposo scored in the fourth round of a shootout after tying the game late in regulation as the New York Islanders shocked the San Jose Sharks 3-2. San Jose saw its winless streak extended to a season-high four games, while New York snapped a 10-game winless streak and a 10-game road losing streak. - - - Bruins 2, Flames 1 David Krejci and Reilly Smith scored in a 98-second span in the third period as Boston skated past the Flames in the celebrated return of Jarome Iginla to Calgary. Iginla was strongly saluted by the fans after he spent 16 seasons with the Flames organization before being traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins last season and then signing with the Bruins (21-8-2) as a free agent. Jiri Hudler had the lone goal for the Flames (11-15-4). - - - Oilers 5, Hurricanes 4 (Overtime) After blowing a 4-1 lead to the Carolina Hurricanes, the Edmonton Oilers emerged with a win when right winger Jordan Eberle scored a power-play goal at 1:48 in overtime. The win improved Edmonton to 7-3-1 in its past 11 games and helped the Oilers (11-18-3) make good on a challenge they made a month ago not to lose two games in a row.
