NFL Week 2: Saints injury report rules out Michael Thomas vs. Raiders

There was some optimism that New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas could play against the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday night, but the Saints are protecting him from himself by ruling him out for Week 2 because of his ankle injury.

Thomas will be joined on the inactive list by defensive end Marcus Davenport (elbow) and linebacker Chase Hansen (hip). However, rookie first-round pick Cesar Ruiz is expected to play, though he’ll likely start at right guard rather than his college position at center.

On the other side of the field, the Raiders have not ruled out any players, but several have their status up in the air. Both starting right tackle Trent Brown (calf) and his backup Sam Young (groin) are doubtful to play, while dynamic rookie wideout Henry Ruggs III (knee) and guard John Simpson (shoulder) are questionable.
