NFL news: Bengals’ Joe Burrow to miss several weeks with injury

One of the top rivals for the Buffalo Bills on their potential road to the Super Bowl won’t have their quarterback for the rest of the summer.

Last week, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was carted off the field during a training camp practice. While a scary sight, Burrow did allude serious injury… but he did not completely dodge it.

Burrow went down on a non-contact play. In many cases, that could mean a serious knee or Achilles injury. For Burrow it turned out to just be a calf strain, however, Bengals Wire provides an update: Burrow is set to miss “several weeks.”

Adding to the concern was Cincinnati wideout Ja’Marr Chase. He said he’s hopeful Burrow does not play in Week 1 via NFL Network.

Chase explained he wants Burrow to take his time healing up his injury fully so that it doesn’t come back to bite the QB down the road. Regardless, Chase’s comment makes Burrow’s status all the more curious.

The Bengals are one of top teams in the AFC and in some way, shape, or form, will be a threat to the Bills’ Super Bowl hopes. Cincy knocked Buffalo out of the 2022 playoffs and went on to face the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship.

It’s likely that all three teams will be top competitors in the conference again this upcoming season. Even just one game without Burrow could end up making a difference in the standings at the end of the 2023 season.

Bills Wire will continue to provide updates throughout the 2023 season.
