NFL to have more games exclusively airing on streaming services in 2024
One of the NFL wild card games last season was available to watch only on Peacock, NBC’s streaming service. It was not available on network television or traditional cable or satellite television.
Thursday night games are already streaming-only games on Amazon Prime Video.
In 2024, games available exclusively on streaming services will expand, the league announced this week.
In addition to the Thursday night games that air exclusively on Prime Video, there will be one other regular-season game and a playoff game that will air exclusively on streaming services.
Peacock will air the first-ever game in Sao Paolo, Brazil. That will be on the Friday of Week 1 on Sept. 6, one day after the Kansas City Chiefs host a team in the first game of the regular season the night before.
Another wild card game in the postseason will again be able to be seen via streaming as Prime Video will air one.
As is always the case for special broadcasts like Thursday games and these streaming-only games, local fans of the competing teams in their home markets will be able to watch those streamed games on free, over-the-air broadcast television as well as on mobile devices with NFL+.
