NFL draft: Tanking Rankings entering Week 14
Un-Power Rankings...
Carolina lost and so did the anemic New England Patriots. That means Bill Belichick is within a length of the first pick in the 2024 NFL draft. Talk about a tumble. According to Tankathon data, here’s how the bottom of the pack stack up heading into Week 14…
12. LA Chargers (5-7, strength of schedule . 520)
The Chargers failed to dent the end zone, yet still downed the New England Patriots in the rain. This should not boost the confidence of any Bolts fans about them getting on a hot streak.
11. Las Vegas Raiders (5-7, strength of schedule .500)
The Raiders were on a bye.
10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-7, strength of schedule .490)
The Buccaneers barely defeated the Carolina Panthers in Week 13. Sure, a win is a win. But that doesn’t bode well for a repeat as NFC South champions. And it should mean they will stick around the Tanking Rankings for a while.
9. New Orleans Saints (5-7, strength of schedule .426)
The Saints probably want to sink in the rankings given their QB situation. Derek Carr isn’t the answer. Jameis Winston, too. The harsh reality is being in the NFC South allows teams to linger with playoff hopes.
8. Tennessee Titans (4-8, strength of schedule .539)
Imagine taking the lead at home in overtime and then allowing Indy to march for a touchdown to win the game. That’s the blueprint for maintaining a spot in the Tanking Rankings.
7. New York Giants (4-8, strength of schedule .517)
The Giants had a bye week and got to watch the Jets lose to the Falcons to make their pathetic mark. Brace yourself for MNF excitement on Dec. 11 as Big Blue welcomes the suddenly sizzling Green Bay Packers.
6. New York Jets (4-8, strength of schedule .512)
Another week, another loss. This team becomes intriguing because of how its quarterback room collapsed. What happens if the Jets have a high draft pick? Draft a quarterback and send Aaron Rodgers off?
5. Chicago Bears (4-8, strength of schedule .471)
The Bears were on a bye and had to sweat out a Panthers loss to the Buccaneers.
4. Washington Commanders (4-9, strength of schedule .522)
Ron Rivera is probably wondering why he fired Jack Del Rio.
3. Arizona Cardinals (3-10, strength of schedule .561)
James Conner had a big game returning to Pittsburgh. The win could make it tough for the Cardinals to get back in the mix for the first pick.
2. New England Patriots (2-10, strength of schedule .527)
The Patriots’ defense should sue for non-support.
1. Chicago Bears via Carolina Panthers (1-11, strength of schedule .525)
The Bears continue to flex, even on a bye week, as the Panthers lost again. It was scary and only by a field goal but 1-11 is 1-11.
