Thiago Silva vs. Ovince St. Preux Rebooked for UFC 171 in Dallas

UFC Fighter Thiago Silva Arrested After Standoff at Florida Home

A light heavyweight bout between Thiago Silva and Ovince St. Preux has been rebooked for UFC 171 on March 15 in Dallas.

UFC officials announced the rebooking on Saturday, along with a new middleweight bout between Bubba McDaniel (21-7) and Tor Troeng (16-5-1).

Silva and St. Preux had originally been slated for the UFC Fight Night 35 co-main event on Jan. 15 in Atlanta, but less than 24 hours after announcing the bout, the promotion said Silva was out of the fight. They gave no explanation for Silva’s withdrawal.

Now the fight is back on as part of the supporting cast for the UFC 171 headlining bout between Jon Jones and Glover Teixeira.

After a rough 2012 that saw Silva (16-3, 2 NC) lose to Alexander Gustafsson and have a submission win over Stanislov Nedkov overturned after testing positive for marijuana, Silva has put together back-to-back wins.

He knocked out Rafael Cavalcante in June and soundly defeated Matt Hamill in his last outing on Oct. 9.

St. Pruex (11-5) is riding a three-fight winning streak, knocking out Cody Donovan in his last fight on Aug. 17. The 30-year-old has only lost once since 2010 and has an 11-1 record in his last twelve outings.
