Rams Kicker Re-Signs In Los Angeles

The Los Angeles Rams made a smart decision when they decided to re-sign kicker Greg Zuerlein. According to Mike Garafolo at NFL Network, Zuerlein agreed to a three-year deal with the team, is set to average $2.25 million per season.

“Greg the Leg” is coming of a season where he made 19-of-22 field goals (86.4 percent) in 2016 and was 17-of-18 from within 50 yards. According to Jordan Plocher at Pro Football Focus, “Zuerlein has been the Rams most consistent point-scorer in the last few years. Zuerlein’s leg can turn many stalled Rams’ drives into three points and with the Rams’ offense still a bit away from being productive, keeping Zuerlein in house will be hugely beneficial to the team.”

Worth mentioning, is that Zuerlein wasn’t always such a reliable kicker. 2015 saw him struggle when he went just 20-of-30 (66.7 percent) field goals in 2015. He only made just three of his nine kicks from beyond 50 yards that season.

How things have changed for him in Los Angeles.

McDougald To L.A. Might Make Sense

Bradley McDougald looks to be out of his gig in Tampa, and that may be a good thing for the Rams. With J.J. Wilcox coming to terms with the Bucs, and Los Angeles possibly looking to move on from T.J. McDonald, McDougald might be a nice fit.

Over 31 games for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, McDougald has made 31 starts and racked up an average of 89 tackles a season over that period. While he doesn’t “grade out” particularly impressive, he’s a solid player who can play both safety spots for a very friendly price tag.
