Oklahoma RB Samaje Perine to miss several weeks with injured hamstring
It’s officially Joe Mixon’s backfield, at least for the time being.
Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops announced Monday that running back Samaje Perine could miss as many as three weeks as he deals with an injured hamstring. The injury occurred during a 25-yard touchdown run on the opening drive of Oklahoma’s 38-17 win against Kansas State. He had rushed 48 yards on that drive and didn’t return.
In Perine’s stead, Mixon had 19 carries for 88 yards, three catches for 34 yards and a touchdown, and one 26-yard pass for a touchdown.
In six games this season, Perine has rushed for 475 yards and six touchdowns.
Oklahoma has three winnable games in the next three weeks. The Sooners play at Texas Tech this week then have games against Kansas and Iowa State. Perine should be back for a pivotal stretch of games against Baylor, West Virginia and Oklahoma State.
