Max Holloway Faces Andre Fili in UFC 172 Featherweight Bout

UFC 199 Results: Max Holloway Outlasts Ricardo Lamas for Ninth Consecutive Win

UFC 172: Jones vs. Teixeira on Wednesday gained a match-up between two up-and-coming featherweights. Max Holloway will face Andre Fili on the April 26 event.

Holloway (8-3) made his UFC debut in Feb. 12, 2012, losing to Dustin Poirier by submission in the opening round. He fought four times that year, stringing together three consecutive wins following his first career loss to Poirier.

2013 was not his year, however. The 22-year-old lost his only two outings last year, dropping decisions to Dennis Bermudez and Conor McGregor. He got 2014 off to a good start with a technical knockout win over Will Chope on Jan. 4.

Fili (13-1) is riding a nine-fight winning streak. He made his promotional debut at UFC 166, accepting a fight with Jeremy Larsen on short notice after his original opponent, Charles Oliveira, withdrew due to injury. He defeated Larsen by technical knockout. The Team Alpha Male trained fighter hopes to continue his winning ways when he faces Holloway in Baltimore.

UFC 172 takes place on April 26 at the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore, Md. UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones puts his title on the line against Glover Teixeira in the card’s main event.
