Lidstrom to become Red Wings scout

Nicklas Lidstrom, who retired in May after playing all 20 of his NHL seasons with Detroit, will remain with the Red Wings organization as a scout, NHL.com reported Sunday.

Lidstrom's exact duties have not been determined, but he likely will work in Europe.

"We haven't really sat down [and determined] to what extent, but he'll be in the organization and do everything he can to help us out," general manager Jim Nill told NHL.com. "We might bring him back here. It depends on the situation. His terms. We wanted to keep him in the organization."
