Feuding coaches the latest drama in Sharks-Golden Knights saga

There’s nothing quite like the intensity of a seven-game playoff series.

While plenty of drama is to be expected at this time of the year, the Vegas Golden Knights and San Jose Sharks have taken things to a new level over the past couple weeks.

This series has already given us the epic Evander Kane versus Ryan Reaves “Muffin Man” saga, and now the two coaches are getting involved in the feud.

Sharks coach Peter DeBoer threw gas on the fire Monday when he took a shot at Golden Knights bench boss Gerard Gallant. According to DeBoer, his Vegas counterpart has been one of the biggest trash talkers in the series despite not actually being on the ice.

“...Their coach is chattering. He's probably doing the most chattering. He's talking to our players constantly during the game, which I haven't seen before,” DeBoer said.

Gallant was not about to let those comments go without retort, and clapped back during his media availability Tuesday.

“I really don’t want to talk about that but I think I’m going to have to a little bit because for that clown to say that in the paper yesterday, that’s not right,” Gallant told reporters.

While the extracurriculars in the series have been top-notch, the hockey itself has been entertaining as well. The two teams have been exchanging blows, with things now deadlocked at three games apiece after Sunday’s 2-1 Sharks victory in double overtime.

With a “clown” and the “Muffin Man” among the participants, it’s only fitting this circus has gone the distance. Now what will these rivals do for an encore in Tuesday’s Game 7?
