Nets’ Mikal Bridges details Team USA’s confidence in winning gold

Brooklyn Nets guard Mikal Bridges has always been a confident player ever since he came into the league as the 10th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft out of Villanova. The funny thing is, now that Bridges is helping Team USA try to win the 2023 FIBA World Cup and bring home the gold, he’s surrounded by players who match his confidence.

So far, Bridges and Team USA have a lot to be confident about as they have won all five games of their exhibition showcase and conquered New Zealand, their first opponent of the World Cup. Bridges and his Nets teammate, Cam Johnson, have made considerable contributions to Team USA along the way.

New Zealand tested the Americans in the first half by playing physical and taking advantage of Team USA relative lack of international basketball experience. Here’s what Bridges had to say to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst regarding how he and his teammates feel about their chances of winning gold:

“We feel like we’re the best team. Every team probably feels like they can beat anyone, and they can think that all they want.”
