Nets’ Kevin Durant has MCL sprain in right knee; will be re-evaluated in two weeks
Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant has been diagnosed with a right MCL sprain, according to the Nets’ announcement earlier on Monday. Durant suffered the injury late in the third quarter of Sunday’s 102-101 win over the Miami Heat. At the time of his injury, Durant had 17 points and four rebounds.
After the game, Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn said that Durant would get an MRI on Monday and it looks like the test revealed the sprain. Most of the players were optimistic about Durant coming back sooner than later because he was in good spirits after the nail-biting win. Durant welcomed the players back to the locker room with high-fives so it’s possible that Durant feels better than what he looked like as he walked off the floor.
On the play in question, Jimmy Butler drove past Seth Curry, but was met at the rim by Ben Simmons. After Simmons blocked Butler’s shot, Butler fell to the ground, but not until he fell into Durant’s knee. Durant grabbed at his right knee in obvious pain, but stayed in the game until the pain got too bad and he left the game for the locker room. It was later announced in the fourth quarter that Durant was ruled out for the rest of the game.

The Nets’ next game is Thursday as they host the Boston Celtics.
