Nets’ Ben Simmons says he’ll ‘be back soon’ from back injury

The Brooklyn Nets are currently in Paris as they put on some events to help spread the NBA internationally while also preparing to play the Cleveland Cavaliers for the second time this season. In the middle of everything that’s happening for Brooklyn in Paris, the public may have received some good news on the Nets’ highest-profile player.

On Wednesday, Brooklyn point guard Ben Simmons spoke to the media after the Nets finished practicing. Simmons, who has missed the past 30 games with a nerve impingement in his lower left back, said that his back “is good” and that he’s “getting there” as he recovers from his back injury.

While it’s clear that the Nets have missed Simmons’ presence due to how much Brooklyn has struggled to play at a fast-tempo without him on offense and have less versatility on the defensive end, he did provide what seems to be good news for anyone patiently waiting for the Aussie to come back to the Nets’ lineup.

Simmons said that he’s “progressing every day” which is in line with what the Nets have said during their bi-weekly updates on his recovery from his injury. The one thing that Simmons said that could be the best news that Nets fans have heard in awhile is that he’ll “be back soon.”

Simmons did not provide a timetable for when he was coming back to Brooklyn’s lineup, but what he said to the media on Wednesday is similar to what he said to the New York media on Dec. 22. For now, it seems that all signs indicate that Simmons will be back soon enough.
