Nets trading Royce O'Neale to Suns, acquiring three second-round picks in three-team deal

The Nets are acquiring three second-round picks and matching salaries from the Suns in exchange for power forward Royce O'Neale as part of a three-team deal, according to numerous reports.

Additionally, Phoenix is adding 22-year-old power forward David Roddy from the Memphis Grizzlies for a pick swap.

With Brooklyn on the outside looking in at the Eastern Conference playoff race after losing 15 of their last 20 games, the organization decided it was best to be sellers ahead of the trade deadline.

O’Neale was seen as one of Brooklyn’s top available assets and he drew widespread interest league-wide, being that he’s owed just $9.5 million on his deal that expires at the end of this season.

The 30-year-old was well aware of this, as he reportedly shook hands with each of his Nets teammates before he left the team’s facility following Tuesday's game against the Mavericks.

O’Neale spent two seasons with Brooklyn and he provided a little bit of everything for Jacque Vaughn's squad, mainly coming off the bench.

The three-and-D wing's averaged a combined 8.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists while shooting 38 percent from beyond the arc across 125 games (59 starts) over the past two seasons.

He'll now get another chance to play alongside his former Nets teammate, Kevin Durant, down the stretch in Phoenix.

Brooklyn is also reportedly waiving former first-round pick, Harry Giles III, who is averaging just 3.4 points and five minutes of action across 16 appearances in his return to the NBA.
