Nebraska’s football history with UCLA

UCLA wraps up our mini-breakdown of the history between the incoming PAC-12 teams that join Nebraska in the Big Ten. Previously, we have looked at the history of the Huskers vs USC, Oregon, and Washington.

Now we dive into the history with the Bruins. And of all the new teams joining the Big Ten, Nebraska has the most history with UCLA.

The Huskers and Bruins have faced off 13 times since their opening game in 1946 with Nebraska holding on to the series lead by just one game. The Big Ten will have to update their recent scheduling model to include its four incoming members.

Current reports state that the league is looking at a ten-game conference schedule. Here is a game-by-game look starting with the most recent contest.

Led by future NFL Hall of Fame Troy Aikman, this game was won by UCLA who jumped out to a 28-0 start before the first quarter ended. The 28 points that Nebraska would go on to score the rest of the way still wouldn’t be enough as the defense allowed UCLA to score 13 more points to close the outing. Had the first quarter gone differently, Nebraska probably could’ve seen this series’ long run stretch to seven games instead of breaking it up between four and two.
