NDAPSSA releases final Class B football polls

Oct. 18—JAMESTOWN — The final North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Class B football polls were released on Wednesday, Oct. 18, with very few changes from the Oct. 11 polls.

The top team in the 11-man poll remains Velva-Drake-Anamoose-Garrison who received 12 first-place votes thanks to a 9-0 record. The Aggies have remained the top team all year and are the top seed in the Class A 11-man playoffs starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21.

The 9-man poll sees a tie for the top spot as the Sargent County Bulldogs and the South Border Mustangs are tied with 77 points. The 9-0 Bulldogs received 10 first-place votes ahead of their first-round matchup at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 21, against Nelson County. The 9-0 Mustangs received seven first-place votes as they prepare to host Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 21.

The Mustangs climbed into the poll in week two at No. 5 and have been in the top five ever since.

The only other local team to finish the year ranked was New Rockford-Sheyenne-Maddock who finished third in the 9-man poll while receiving one first-place vote. The Rockets are the No. 2 seed in the 9-man playoffs and will host Hankinson at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 21.
