NCAA makes changes to the transfer portal rules

A hot-button topic in college football these days is the famed transfer portal. If you aren’t happy where you are, you can leave and go somewhere else.

Brian Kelly has benefitted from the transfer portal in a huge way in the past two years. He signed 25 players from the transfer portal in his first LSU recruiting class.

The NCAA is trying to crack down on the transfer portal and implement some new rules on when the transfer window opens and closes. They have implemented a new rule to limit the transfer portal to just 45 days for men’s and women’s basketball and to 45 days for football (30 days after the season, 15 days in spring).

It is hoping that this change cuts down the likelihood of players trying to transfer in the middle of the season to go play somewhere. It creates a lot of hassle for the coaches and universities when that happens. We will see if this change will play out in the future.
