NBA scout wouldn’t be surprised if Ben Simmons sat out Sixers’ training camp

Training camp is set to begin in a little over a month now for the Philadelphia 76ers and they will have a new opportunity to contend for a title. Led by superstar big man Joel Embiid, they will always have a shot if he is healthy.

At the moment, Embiid is flanked by one of the game’s bright stars in Ben Simmons. However, Simmons had some familiar issues dog him in the playoffs in Round 2 and the team began taking trade calls on the 3-time All-Star after the Game 7 loss.

Since then, he has been involved in every trade rumor and trade suggestion ever brought up and ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins suggested that Simmons will sit training camp in order to get out of Philadelphia. At the moment, it seemed like a reach considering how important Simmons is to the team’s success.

Now, a scout told The Ringer that he would not be surprised if Simmons did, in fact, sit camp to get a trade done.

As Philadelphia moves forward, this is going to be one situation that they desperately have to work out. Whether they keep Simmons and rehabilitate his trade value and try again at the deadline or they work something out before the season begins on Oct. 20. There is not much time left as the Sixers continue to move forward on their title chase.
