NBA free agency 2023: Live updates as Damian Lillard requests trade from Portland

NBA free agency 2023 is already off to a hot start after the 6 p.m. opening came Friday. Teams can now negotiate deals with free agents during the moratorium and agree to deals. Those players cannot officially sign until 12:01 p.m. on Thursday. Trades can also become official at that time.

The NBA's 2023-24 salary cap is sits at $136 million (up from $123.6 million last year) with the luxury tax line at $165 million (up from $150.3 million.)

It's a decent free agent class, with top names on the market including Kyrie Irving (re-signed with Dallas), Khris Middleton (re-signed with Milwaukee), Fred VanVleet (signed with Houston), Draymond Green (re-signed with Golden State), Bruce Brown (signed with Indiana) and Cameron Johnson ((re-signed with Brooklyn).

Austin Reaves (restricted) and Brook Lopez are two of the best free agents available, while Damian Lillard and James Harden have both requested trades and will change the landscape of the league upon their new destination.
