NBA denies Mavericks protest from loss vs. Warriors on March 22

An inbound pass with under two minutes remaining in the third quarter during the Golden State Warriors’ win over the Dallas Mavericks on March 22 sparked a protest.

Following a ball out of bounds, the Mavericks were awarded possession of the ball. However, after a timeout, the referees changed their decision and gave the ball to the Warriors. With Jordan Poole inbounding the ball, the Warriors scored a quick easy uncontested bucket with the Mavericks on the other side of the floor with under two minutes remaining in the third frame.

Dallas owner Mark Cuban later claimed that during the timeout, the Mavericks were never told the call was changed to Golden State ball. Following the game, the Mavericks filed a formal protest of their 127-125 loss.

However, on Thursday, the league officially denied the Mavericks’ protest request.
